I was born and raised in Thessaloniki with an intrinsic curiosity about aromas and flavours. During my childhood summers, I would attempt making perfumes in my dad's family home garden, where lemon and orange trees and rose bushes would fill the thick summer air with beguiling aromas. My passion to understand how aromas and flavours work led me to reading Chemistry in Aristotle University and this was where my vinous journey started. I fell in love with wine and its people while working in a tiny lab analysing the volatile fraction of Retsina. Two harvests later in Domaine Gerovassiliou cemented my commitment to wine. After completing my B.Sc. in Chemistry, I decided to move to Montpellier and the following year in Geisenheim to study for my Master in Oenology and Viticulture, Vinifera Euromaster. A 3-month research collaboration with Plumpton College while based in London turned into a 12-year career in London’s fine wine trade where I have worked in some of the capital’s leading importers in several marketing positions, including Louis Roederer’s UK subsidiary and a City-based fine wine and whisky merchant. In a world where wine consumption is increasingly declining, I am a big advocate of wine education, moderate and mindful imbibing. Since May 2024, I am a certified WSET Educator teaching levels 1, 2 and 3 and currently studying for the Wine School Guild Master-Level Champagne.
